Q: What should I read first so I can start roleplaying?
A: It's usually good to start with the Quickstart and then go to the Lore Database, making your way down through each section.
Q: Will my character become property of SolCom?
A: No. Only characters added to the Historical Characters section are consdered property of SolCom. All other characters remain copyright of their author(s).
Q: Can I use characters in the Player Characters listings?
A: No. Only the authors of those characters may use them.
Q: Can I start a roleplay on your forums?
A: Sure, but talk to us first so we can set things up with you.
Q: Do I have to use your forums?
A: No. You can use whatever medium you like, forums, chats, pen and paper, etc.
Q: Where are the rules for Solest? Why are there no statistics?
A: Solest is a world, not a game. You can apply it to whatever game you like and add whatever statistics you like, be it through AD&D, Tri-Stat, BESM, GURPS, etc.
Q: If I submit lore, when will it be posted?
A: As soon as the Solcom Roleplaying Group looks everything over and decides on whether to approve it or not.
Q: How can I join SolCom Personnel?
A: Get to know us. If you want to help out, show us what you can contribute.
Q: Does anyone get paid for working on SolCom/Solest?
A: No. Not yet anyway. It'd be nice, but this is a game we're making for fun, not for money.
Q: Is my roleplay going to be SolCom copyright?
A: This is a complicated issue. Technically, any time you use SolCom lore, you are using copyrighted lore, so you cannot use it for published material, or any material that earns you a profit. You also can't claim to be the author of preexisting Solest material. However, the ideas you create within your own roleplay are part of your Instance, and aside from the terms and concepts made by the Solest Roleplaying Group, your ideas remain your copyright.
Q: Who's behind SolCom or the SRG?
A: Check the Personnel Page.
Q: Okay, but who made it in the first place?
A: It began as an effort to standardise roleplaying in the Metawerx Anime Capsule X chatroom. The main creator has been Mark P. Tjan, but others including those currently on staff have been major contributors to the project.
Q: Is there anything I can do to support SolCom/Solest?
A: Sure, tell your friends about it!
