Shayarshan
Age: Mid-twenties
Shayarshan // Solest
Gender: Male
Race: Arya
Occupation: Aryan Fire Knight

Equipment:

  • Kyvelt Battle Staff: The second most common choice of weaponry given to those joining the ranks of the Aryan Knights, the first being the Shamshirscimitar. The Battle Staff is approximately six feet in length, with a pair of leather grips near its center. Usually made of metal, these staves are made to weigh slightly heavier at either end, usually either through its initial crafting or such as this one, heavy, ornate metal caps. The ornate caps sometimes serve two purposes. When filled with oil, they can be used as torches. The second use is much rarer, as it involves harder to-obtain materials as well as some invocations make them explode on impact.

  • Veltarias Combat Gear: Made primarily of leather and laminated with a special coating that protects against flames. This suit of armor is composed of a long sleeved shirt, a padded vest, leggings and shin-guards, as well as bracers. The helm is of the same material, often with a mask that contains gauze air filters and a special heatproof visor made out of translucent fabric.

Vehicle:

  • Jivar: The Traditional mount of the knights of fire, Giant Salamanders, magical creatures tamed from their fiery birthplace. Their immunity to flames is legendary, along with their ability to cause flames at will. Trained salamanders have runic markings to preserve their fiery nature, and allow them to be controlled by the rider.

Proficiencies:

  • Battle Experience: Shayarshan is no green recruit when it comes to the battle field. Skilled in his weapon of choice and the tactics of his profession, he faces no foe with fear.

  • Fire Sect Combat Basics: The Aryan Fire Knights have based their knowledge on fire from the race’s vast scholastic libraries. The higher ranked leaders can make flames perform waltzes while the lowest acolyte’s knowledge allows them to burn their foes instead of themselves.

  • Fire Symbology Basics - Pyerisa: A subsect of the Epistola School of magic. Focusing primarily on runes invoking the spirits of flame and lightning.

  • Blind-Fighting: One key fact about fighting in a burning building is that most of the time it is choked with blinding smoke. Fire Knights train a majority of the time in hazy, limited visibility conditions, thus making more use of senses alternative to their eyes to determine an opponent’s move and counter accordingly. It adds the benefit of being able to fight more effectively in near or absolute darkness, or against an enemy who prefers concealment.

  • Air and Fire Training: Breathing in smoke is aided by the Fire Knight’s helm, but being able to sustain air without it is also a vital part of the knight’s training. Extensive breathing exercises are coupled with trained tolerance to smoke as well as the lack of air, giving the Knight an advantage in such scenarios. There is also the added advantage of having a set of good lungs.

Description: As with all Aryans, Shayarshan is tall and lightly tanned, although his hair is cropped short in a militant standard, instead of the lengthy flow favored by his race. His clothing is plain, outside of his leather suit he wears a white shirt and a pair of brown pants, a typical down-to-earth Aryan fashion. Belted around his waist are a simple dagger and pouch, as well as a lightly decorated silver buckle for the black leather belt.

However his status as a knight of fire is clear, as a sect emblem has been stitched into the sleeve of his shirt, a symbol of a flaming sword centered on a white shield. His eyes of amber reflect numerous years of experience, as they hold the faint gleam of one staring into the litral heat of battle.

Shayarshan’s part with the Knights of Fire started at the early age of ten, when he was first inducted into the sect through a careful selection of Aryan children and a rite known as the ‘Fire Feast’. At this age, he was bonded with his Salamandar mount, Jivar, and underwent service first as an acolyte of the flame, before becoming blaze squire, and finally becoming a Fire Knight.

Currently he wears also a Hunter’s Sash, indicating a solitary journey while undertaking tasks assigned to him by the governing body of the Fire Knights, a journey that would one day see him given the rank of a Fire Marshal.
